BMW 5 Series F10/F11/F07

The F10/F11/F07 is the BMW 5 Series generation our specification records cover for US model years 2011–2017. Across that run EPA certified 77 versions of it for sale in America, under 16 trim names. It was sold as a sedan, Touring and Gran Turismo.

Dimensions are the figures the panel above does not carry. The F10 measures 192.9 in · 4,900 mm to 196.9 in · 5,001 mm long, sits on a wheelbase of 116.9 in · 2,969 mm to 120.9 in · 3,071 mm and weighs 3,560 lb · 1,615 kg to 5,060 lb · 2,295 kg. Length and wheelbase come from Transport Canada, which measures every vehicle sold in North America; curb weight from the same source.

The generation did not stand still: the strongest version rose from 400 hp in 2011 to 448 hp in 2017, and the best combined economy improved from 25 mpg to 27 mpg. An F10 from the first model year and one from the last are not the same proposition, which is worth remembering when a listing gives only the chassis code.

Set against the E60/E61 that preceded it, the F10 is 2.0 inches longer at the shortest version and 165 lb · 75 kg heavier at the lightest. Both figures are taken from the lightest and shortest version we hold for each, so they compare like with like rather than setting a base car against a loaded one.

Of the 77 versions we hold under this code, 42 are rear-wheel drive and 35 all-wheel drive; by fuel, 71 petrol and 6 diesel. That matters on the used market more than it looks: which axles are driven changes the weight, the service list and the price, and the badge does not always say which you are looking at.
